Portraiture In Clay 6-Evening Workshop

Experience a classical art form by sculpting a life-sized portrait in clay, concentrating on capturing a likeness from a live model. In this six week course use the medium of clay to develop foundational skills in proportion, detail, and expression as you find your own sculpture style. Each session with Sculptor Ryan Kurylo includes step-by-step demos, hands-on guidance, and focused practice and will take away the intimidation of working with figurative subject matter. Additionally learn about the history of the medium as you are exposed to historical works and artists. Finished work is done in medium fire-stoneware and work will be able to for pick up approximately 5 to 6 weeks after the last class. Clay and firing are included. A basic set of sculpture tools is required and can be found for approximately $15 – 35 at local art stores. Tools required specially for sculpting: loop tool, clay wire, sponge, pin tool, wood tools, etc. EXPERIENCE This course is perfect for both beginners and those with previous pottery or sculpting experience. SAFETY INFORMATION Please note that you will be working with water-bases pottery clay (silica).
